Girona vs Las Palmas: prediction & betting odds 3 February 2025

The Matchday 22 clash in La Liga between Girona and Las Palmas will take place on February 3 at the Montilivi Stadium. Girona vs. Las Palmas: prediction and betting odds, statistics.

Girona

The Catalans have lost their last two league matches, suffering consecutive 1-2 defeats to Sevilla and Rayo Vallecano. Notably, Michel Sanchez's side scored first in both games but conceded decisive goals in the final 10 minutes. Interestingly, Girona has not lost three consecutive matches in the current La Liga campaign. The club has dropped to eighth place but is only two points away from the European competition spots.

  • Exactly three goals have been scored in 5 of Girona's last 6 La Liga games.
  • The number "1" has appeared in the final scoreline in 10 of Girona's last 14 league matches.
  • In their last 17 home matches in La Liga, the Catalans have drawn only once (11 wins and 5 losses).

Predicted lineup for Girona (4-5-1)

Paulo Gazzaniga – Juanpe, Daley Blind, David Lopez, Arnau Martinez – Yaser Asprilla, Yangel Herrera, Donny van de Beek, Ivan Martin, Bryan Gil – Arnaut Danjuma.

Las Palmas

The Canary Islanders have not tasted victory in three consecutive La Liga matches. During this run, the club lost to Getafe (1-2) and Real Madrid (1-4) and drew with Osasuna (1-1). The club has not experienced such a winless streak in the league since early October last year. Diego Martinez's side is in 15th place, three points ahead of the nearest relegation rival. Additionally, only Valladolid and Valencia have conceded more goals than Las Palmas in this season's La Liga.

Midfielder Dario Essugo will miss the match due to suspension.

  • The number "1" has appeared in the final scoreline in 6 of Las Palmas's last 7 La Liga games.
  • Both teams have scored in 7 of the Canary Islanders' last 9 league matches.
  • In 7 of their last 8 La Liga matches, there was a draw at halftime.

Predicted lineup for Las Palmas (4-2-3-1)

Jasper Cillessen – Mika Marmol, Scott McKenna, Javier Suarez, Alex Munoz – Dario Essugo, Kirian Rodriguez – Manuel Fuster, Alberto Moleiro, Sandro Ramirez – Fabio Silva.

Girona vs. Las Palmas: Match Prediction

Michel Sanchez's side unexpectedly lost to Sevilla in their last home league match. The team will be eager to make amends for this slip-up, having lost only five times at home in La Liga since October 2023, and previously only to higher-ranked clubs in the standings (Villarreal, Barcelona, Real Sociedad, and Real Madrid). Additionally, Girona has won 17 of their last 25 home league matches (3 draws and 5 losses).

Las Palmas surprised with a victory over Barcelona on their turf this season, but they rarely win away from home. In their last 18 away league matches, the team has only three wins (4 draws and 11 losses). It's also worth noting that the Catalans have defeated the Canary Islanders at home in their last two La Liga meetings. The hosts are more motivated, as they have excellent chances to compete for a European spot. Therefore, my prediction: Girona to win

Betting tips 3 February 2025

The final match of the upcoming La Liga round will see Girona host Las Palmas. After a commendable performance against Arsenal (1:2) in the last round of the Champions League group stage, the Catalan side can now focus entirely on domestic competition, with La Liga being their only remaining commitment this season.

The end of 2024 and the start of January saw Girona secure convincing wins against Real Valladolid (3:0) and Alavés (1:0), comfortably dispatching relegation candidates. However, they have struggled more against stronger opponents. Despite a run of four consecutive defeats, Girona have continued to show strong attacking intent. Against Rayo Vallecano (1:2), they collapsed late on, conceding twice, but still managed to create a solid 1.37 xG with 12 shots over the 90 minutes.

Las Palmas’ defence has been in shambles throughout January. They were eliminated from the Copa del Rey in humiliating fashion by second-division Elche (0:4), before conceding seven goals in three La Liga matches – a tally only worsened by Valencia (10). Advanced metrics offer little consolation for their fans: in January, they accumulated a league-worst 10.34 xGA while generating just 3.52 xG, ranking fifth from the bottom.

A fresh Girona side should take advantage of Las Palmas’ defensive struggles on Monday. The Catalans are deserved favourites, and we are backing their win.
